PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Remember December? It was Portland’s wettest month on record with 15.24″ of rain.

Now imagine seeing all of that rain in a 24-hour period. A small town 70 miles northwest of Houston picked up 16.62″ of rain Thursday.

That’s almost a foot and a half of water!

Storms stalled over the southeast Texas town, triggering deadly flooding.

KHOU in Houston reports 1 person is dead and two are missing.

The fire department performed 45 high water rescues overnight and more than 30 roads remain blocked by flood waters.

It was the wettest calendar day on record in Brenham. 7.66″ is the wettest 24-hour period on record in Downtown Portland (December 12-13th, 1882).
