PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Congratulations Chaitanya Karamchedu!

The Jesuit High School student won a $10,000 award from the the US AID Global Development Lab for his technology to desalinate water and turn it into fresh, clean drinking water.

US Representative Suzanne Bonamici called his project impressive.
