TIGARD, Ore. (KOIN) — A threat against Tigard High School has been deemed not credible, school officials said in a letter to parents on Thursday and and on Friday.
School officials said that they were alerted to a threat and immediately told police, who “found the source of the rumor and determined it was not a credible threat.”
Sgt. Mike Riensche tells KOIN that four male students made up a fantasy story on social media over the past few days, describing how they would attack the school at a Friday morning assembly.
Riensche said it was a “wild and crazy scenario using a lot of imagination.”
Tigard Police had extra security at Friday morning’s assembly.
The investigation continues and it is not clear yet if the boys will face any charges. The boys say that it was just a story and they never intended to carry it out.
