CLACKAMAS, Ore. (KOIN) — Some alert Clackamas County employees led deputies to a burglary suspect Thursday afternoon.

Just before noon, several Clackamas County Justice Court employees were outside their office, located near the I-205 bike path on the east side of Clackamas Town Center. They saw a man on the bike path trying to break into a safe.

Deputies arrived and found the man trying to open the safe in broad daylight.

While this was occurring, an Oregon City police officer was at Oregon City Preschool responding to a burglary call. Someone stole the school’s safe overnight. The Oregon City officer could hear the other call over his radio, and felt the safe on the bike bath sounded very similar to the stolen safe from the preschool.

Deputies confirmed it was the same safe when they found checks from Oregon City Preschool inside.

55-year-old Darryl Tasco, from Delaware, was arrested on burglary charges and a fugitive warrant.
