9-year-old bicyclist hit by car on Gresham street

Boy hospitalized with what appeared to be a serious head injury

GRESHAM, Ore. (KOIN) — A 9-year-old Gresham boy riding a bicycle was hit by a car Thursday evening, police said.

Officers were called to the scene of the crash on NE Cleveland Avenue and NE Burnside Road around 6:45 p.m., Gresham Police Dept. said.

The 9-year-old boy reportedly wasn’t wearing a helmet at the time. Police say he wasn’t using using a crosswalk or even at an intersection when he tried to cross Burnside.

He was hospitalized with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The driver cooperated with police.
