PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 46-year-old man is charged with assault after police say he stabbed a man in downtown.

The stabbing happened Saturday night near W. Burnside and Southwest 3rd Avenue.

On Monday, police confirmed Adrian Cano Chacon was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center. He is charged with second-degree assault.

Over the weekend, police told KOIN 6 News that the suspect and victim are homeless. Officers were seen after the incident searching tents just outside of the Right 2 Dream Too homeless living area.

The victim’s name has not been released. He is expected to survive.
