Couple dies in head-on crash near Cannon Beach

CANNON BEACH, Ore. (KOIN) — A Manzanita couple died when their SUV collided head-on with a Chevy Tahoe on Highway 101 near Cannon Beach Saturday afternoon.

Gregory Heron and Martha Heron were headed south when their Hyundai SUV crossed the center line and hit the Tahoe, the Clatsop County Sheriff’s Office said. The Herons, who were each 64, died at the scene.

A West Linn couple, Diana Feke and Jethro Feke, were in the Tahoe. They were taken to an area hospital for treatment and are expected to recover. Authorities said Diana, 57, was driving and Jethro, 59, was the passenger.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
