PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Multnomah County on Thursday launched a new app designed to tell drivers if the drawbridges are up or down.

Crossing the river in Portland can be a hassle, as getting stuck on one of the four drawbridges (Broadway, Burnside, Hawthorne, Morrison) is not uncommon.

The app provides notifications when one of the drawbridges opens for a river vessel, maintenance or repairs.

The Steel Bridge and the Interstate Bridge are not included in the app. It was created by county IT staff with interns from IT vocational school Epidocus.

It is available for free on Google Play for Android devices and the Apple App Store for iOS devices.
