HARRISBURG, Ore. (KOIN) — A steel-hauling trucker lost control of his rig and crashed into the Harrisburg Public Works building very early Thursday morning.

The driver, Sergio Villa Garcia, told Linn County deputies the rear axles of his trailer hit a bridge on Highway 99E over the Willamette River. He lost control and slammed into the unoccupied building.

The 50-year-old driver was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Deputies said it appears operator error — but not speed, alcohol or drugs — was a factor.
