HARRISBURG, Ore. (AP) — A crash on Interstate 5 near Harrisburg, north of Eugene, has left two adults dead and a 5-year-old girl in the hospital.

The Register-Guard reports that a motor home crashed into a parked tractor-trailer rig on the highway Wednesday. The tractor-trailer was parked on the shoulder while the driver took his mandatory 10-hour break. The driver of the trailer was not cited in the crash.

Oregon State Police Senior Trooper Eli Chambers saw the crash and heard the screams of the child. The trooper and two Good Samaritans were able to break the side windows of the RV and pull the girl from the burning wreckage. She was taken to a Springfield hospital with possible fractures.

The girl’s grandmother, 69-year-old Sandra Bishop, was driving the RV. She and the girl’s father, 26-year-old Michael Bunten, were both killed.
