Man dies in NE Portland shooting, arrest made

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Officers have arrested a 34-year-old man in connection to a deadly shooting that happened Thursday in the King neighborhood.

The victim, Isaiah Demetrius Kent, was rushed to a hospital after being shot around 6 p.m. near Northeast 6th and Northeast Alberta. the 28-year-old died around midnight, according to Portland Police.

An autopsy will be conducted this weekend.

“One suspect has been arrested in connection with this investigation. For investigative reasons, detectives are not releasing any information about the suspect at this time and there will be no court appearance until Monday,” Sgt. Pete Simpson with Portland Police said Friday morning.

KOIN 6 News has confirmed the identity of the person who has arrested, but at the request of police, we are not identifying him. Records show the suspect does have a criminal record, including multiple felonies and parole and probation violations, and is being held in jail on one count of murder. Police have not disclosed if they are looking for any additional persons who may be connected to the case.
