PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Two dogs attacked a group of kids who were playing in the street in Southeast Portland.

The attack happened on SE 87th and Knapp. Billy, one of the boys playing outside, told KOIN 6 News that he ran back into his house but one of the dogs managed to bite his shoe.

“Then they chased me and my friend and my brother and he got me on the shoe,” Billy said.

The dogs had been running in the street, chasing a car, when they spotted the boys and went after them.

Billy says his grandfather was standing in the doorway and picked him up to safety when he ran in. The dogs, however, were still running around until someone else, possibly another neighbor, shot one of them.

The dog was taken by its owner to a veterinarian and appears to be OK.

The boys were uninjured and no charges have been filed. Portland Police are aware of the incident.
