LA CENTER, Wash. (KOIN) — A driver who allegedly admitted doing 140 mph before colliding with another car on northbound I-5 is in a hospital and will likely face serious charges.

The crash just before 4 a.m. happened just past the La Center onramp to I-5, WSP Trooper Will Finn said. The driver who was hit suffered facial injuries and was drifting in and out of consciousness, he said.

The speeding driver suffered broken bones.

Both were taken to PeaceHealth Southwest in Vancouver for treatment. Their names have not been released.

Among the charges possible is vehicular assault — that is, driving with disregard for the safety of others.

KOIN 6 News will have more information as it develops.
