Former WOU students convicted of sex abuse, rape

The incident happened in 2014 when both men attended Western Oregon University

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Two former students at Western Oregon University have been convicted of raping and sexually abusing a woman while they were enrolled at the university.

The Statesman Journal reports that on Thursday 23-year-old Robert Godeaux Savoy III was found guilty of rape and sexual abuse and 23-year-old Christopher James Weekly was found guilty of sodomy and sexual abuse.

The incident occurred in 2014 while both men were students.

Savoy and Weekly are scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 11.

WOU sexual assault response center director MaryEllen DelloStritto says there are multiple programs on campus that aim to prevent intimate, partner- and power-based violence as well as resources to respond to such incidents.
