TIGARD, Ore. (KOIN) — A teenager charged with the attempted murder of a 59-year-old woman allegedly attacked someone else just months ago.
Daniel Ortiz, 17, is accused of attacking and stabbing a woman Saturday night at Walnut Street and 114th Avenue in Tigard.
He was charged as an adult in court on Monday.
Now another Tigard woman has come forward claiming she was also attacked by Ortiz in May 2015.
“Every time I saw him he had that same creepy smile on his face,” Autumn Gray told KOIN 6 News. “He’s obviously a local menace.”
Gray said she had a run in with Ortiz on the basketball court of her Tigard apartment complex.
“I saw him with something and I said, ‘Have you been stealing from my porch again?'” she recalled. After that, Gray said she left and came back, this time with her sister who took out a camera and began recording.
“That’s when I saw him pull out the blade and I just starting backing up again,” Gray said. “I said, ‘You don’t want to do this. Why are you doing this?'”
She recalled the 17-year-old saying “I’m going to kill you” and “I’ve killed before and I’ll do it again.”
At the time of the incident, police allegedly told Gray it wasn’t the first time they dealt with Ortiz. When she heard he was a suspect in Saturday’s attack, she said her heart dropped into her stomach.
Now she’s hoping he will be sentenced and locked behind bars, at least for a while.
“I go to sleep at night and I close my eyes and I feel like he’s going to be at my window,” Gray said.
She also said she believes Ortiz was given some form of treatment after their encounter in May.
His next court appearance is set for January 11.
