PHILOMATH, Ore. (KOIN) — A convicted felon who walked away from a work crew off Highway 20 near Philomath on Monday has been caught.

Travis Riley was with a work crew from the Mill Creek Correctional Facility that was being supervised by the Oregon Department of Forestry when he left.

He was apprehended by state police after midnight on Tuesday at an abandoned home near Chesire.

The 32-year-old has been imprisoned since May 2015 for 1st-degree burglary, being a felon with a weapon and possessing meth.

Mill Creek is a minimum security prison in Salem with about 290 inmates. It’s been open since 1929.
