Snowmobiler finds 4 trapped on Mount Hood

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A snowmobiler found 4 family members who went missing after going to play in the snow on Mount Hood Saturday night.

April Martinez told KOIN 6 News her stepson, 2 sons and her niece had gone up to the mountain for the day and had not been heard from since late Saturday night.

“Around 2 a.m., my husband and others went to go look for them,” she said.

But it was not until early Sunday afternoon that a snowmobiler found them in the area of High Rock near Timothy Lake.

Their car had reportedly become trapped in about 3 feet of snow.

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the 4 people were safe.

Martinez told KOIN 6 New she was heading out to be reunited with her family.
