PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police say two people died when cars collided north of Monmouth.
Lt. Bill Fugate says it appears a Honda Civic traveling northbound on Highway 99W swerved into the path of a southbound Volkswagen Passat. Investigators have yet to determine why the car swerved.
The two people in the Honda, Jesus Negrete Ramirez, 47, and Consuelo Aguinaga Martinez, 49, died at the scene Thursday. Negrete Ramirez was driving.
Fugate says 49-year-old Kimberly Williams of Keizer was driving the Volkwagen. She was taken to Salem Hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.
