EUGENE, Ore. (KOIN) — Two robberies near the University of Oregon campus may be connected to recent, similar robberies in North Portland.

The Portland cases had 3 people robbed of their cell phones in a manner similar to what happened in Eugene Saturday morning.

In the first case, a man said he was walking near 20th Avenue and Patterson Street about 4:45 a.m. when a man pointed a gun at him and demanded his cell phone.

The second case happened just after 5 a.m. near the Delta Delta Delta sorority on E. 15th Avenue. The woman told police she was robbed of her cell phone by a man with a gun.

In each case the suspect is described as a black man in his 20s, about 5′ 10″ tall, clean shaven wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt and a black, puffy vest.

Officers searched both areas and couldn’t find the suspect.

The investigation continues.
