PORTLAND, Ore (KOIN) – A deepening area of low pressure will move in this weekend bringing rain and strong wind through the weekend. The National Weather Service issued a High Wind Warning until 2 AM Sunday. Areas from Astoria down the coast (Seaside, Cannon beach, Oceanside, Tillamook, and other neighborhoods lined down the coast) where wind will be the biggest threat. General wind speed will be blowing around 30 to 40 mph at the coast, but at times the wind can gust up to 65 mph and possible higher. Just be aware of this along the coast, this happens often but it is always an area of concern especially paired with the heavy rain. Wind speeds up to this level can take down power lines or trees and make driving harder especially along U.S. route 101.
It will also be windy inland, dealing with that tight pressure gradient across the whole PNW through the next couple of days. Wind gust not looking to top as high as the coast, but still some strong wind is likely.
