Corvallis man, 24, dies in high-speed rollover crash

Police say speed and alcohol are considered factors in the crash

SALEM, Ore. (KOIN) — A 24-year-old man was killed in an early morning rollover crash on Hwy 22 just west of Salem, police said.

The crash happened around 2:40 a.m. near Hwy 51, Oregon State Police said.

According to witnesses, the car was traveling around 100 mph when it lost control. The car struck a light pole and rolled over multiple times before coming to a stop upright in a field, investigators said.

The car reportedly traveled over 900 feet after it left the roadway.

The driver, 28-year-old James Allen Young from Independence, was taken to Salem Hospital with serious injuries.

Passenger Christopher Duane Liddell, 24, from Corvallis, died at the scene.

Police say speed and alcohol are considered factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
