PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — It was originally called Armistice Day and commemorated the end of World War I — the War to End All Wars — on November 11, 1918.

Now known as Veterans Day, it is the day when all who have served this country are honored and remembered.

On Sunday, a ceremony was held at Willamette National Cemetery. Some of those attending said Veterans Day is important so future generations remember what happened and why.
