COSTA MESA, Calif. (AP) — A man suspected of assaulting an Uber driver in Southern California has been identified as a mid-level manager for Taco Bell Corp.

The Orange County Register reports 32-year-old Benjamin Golden, of Newport Beach, was arrested Friday on misdemeanor charges of public intoxication and assault.

A Taco Bell Corp. spokeswoman said in a statement Monday that Golden has been terminated from his position as a brand manager for the company.

The incident was captured on dash camera video and shows the suspect repeatedly hitting 23-year-old Edward Caban in the face.

The assault began after Caban pulled the car over and told Golden to get out for being too drunk to tell him directions.

Lt. Greg Scott says Golden was arrested and then released after he was no longer intoxicated.
