Coastal man arrested for threats against police

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Rockaway man was arrested Tuesday for threatening to cause violence against law enforcement officers.

On Monday, several agencies received the calls, including the Veterans Affairs hospital in Portland, according to Tillamook County Sheriff Andy Long.

Investigators discovered the suspect planned to travel to Portland early Tuesday morning. Oregon State Police said they confirmed that through overnight surveillance video.

The 58-year-old was arrested during a traffic stop along Highway 101 about 7:15 a.m.

Police said the man was taken into custody without incident.
