Close call after a bullet rips through ceiling

A man and his 2 kids were inside the apartment at the time

SALEM, Ore. (KOIN) — Marion County Sheriff Deputies are investigating a shooting that injured one man and came close to injuring three people in a neighboring apartment.

Police say they received a shots fired call about 8:00 Friday night at an apartment complex on Cheryl Lynn Way NE. Shortly after the call, a man showed up at Salem Hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg.

Police determined the shooting happened inside an apartment. One of the bullets went through the apartment floor and through the ceiling of the downstairs unit where a man and his two children were inside.

None of them were hurt.

The man who was shot in the leg is out of the hospital.
