HAPPY VALLEY, Ore. (KOIN) — A family escaped without injury but their pets died in a fire that ripped through their Happy Valley home Saturday night.

Neighbors heard an explosion from the single-story ranch house around 9:30 p.m. and called for fire crews to come to 10801 SE Tyler Road. When responders arrived they noticed flames shooting from the roof.

The residents got out of the fire, but 2 dogs and a cat did not survive. Another 2 cats have not been found at this time.

The investigation into the cause continues but initial indications are that it was accidental.
