MCMINNVILLE, Ore. (KOIN) — 3rd Street in downtown McMinnville is well known to the locals, but now it’s getting some national attention.

The six block stretch of downtown McMinnville is quintessential, cozy, Main Street USA.

“I would say quaint,” said Jana Polivka. Her husband, Dwight, describes it as a getaway.

“In the course of the day like this, it’s a retreat. This is where people come to vacation.”

3rd Street has charm, history, color and community spirit.

“We look at it as our living room of McMinnville,” Mayor Rick Olson told KOIN 6 News. He’s grateful for the honor.

“It could’ve come from a planner back east, we don’t know where it came from so that makes it even that more of an honor because it wasn’t nominated locally.”

McMinnville certainly seems to be deserving of the honor. According to the Mayor, within eight square blocks there are 34 restaurants, 17 wine tasting rooms, six breweries and countless pieces of art.

“There’s something to do for everybody.”
