PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — Police called out a tactical team and crisis negotiators to look for a potential shooting suspect after a man was shot and killed in the Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood.
The shooting was reported at 8:01 p.m. on Friday in the area of Southeast 132nd & Bush. Officers arrived and located one person who was suffering from at least one gunshot wound. That man later died. He has been identified as Tyler Woods, 25, from Southeast Portland.
The Portland Police Bureau’s Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) and Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) responded to look for the shooter.
Police had set up a perimeter around SE Holgate to Powell and SE 122nd and 135th.
Residents had been told remain inside. Around 12:32 a.m. on Saturday, most of the roads were re-opened. Officers have not released any additional information about the shooter other than he is white, 25-35 years old, 5’10” with a medium build.
Homicide detectives and the bureau’s Forensic Evidence Division responded to the crime scene to investigate the shooting.
