A heads up if you will likely use I-5 to get to where you’re going over the next week, the southbound lanes of I-5 will close Friday, September 11 and Saturday, September 12 starting at 10 p.m. both nights. I-5 southbound will close from the Fremont to the Marquam Bridge for overnight construction work. Each closure will end by noon the following morning. Also expect several on-ramps in the area to close Friday and Saturday nights. You can use I-405 southbound across the Fremont Bridge as an alternate route around the closure.

Another project will impact traffic on the Interstate Bridge. The two right lanes of the northbound span of the Interstate bridge will close Saturday, September 12 for maintenance. That means northbound traffic headed to Vancouver will only have one lane to use. The lane closures start at 11 p.m. Saturday and reopen by 9 a.m. the next morning.

And watch out for nighttime paving work in Salem this coming week. Starting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16 and on Thursday, September 17, the ramps at the Portland Road interchange (Exit 256) will close for paving work. Crews plan to reopen the ramp by 5:30 a.m. the following mornings. During the closure, you can use Market Street (Exit 256) to the south or Chemawa Road (Exit 260) to the north. Paving crews will also close alternating northbound I-5 lanes to do some work. Looking ahead to the evenings of September 21 and 22, the ramps at Market Street (Exit 256) will close from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. You will be able to use Portland Road to the north or Mission Street (Exit 253) to the south as a detour.
