RIDGEFIELD, Wash. (KOIN) — A 57-year-old man was arrested in Clark County on Wednesday for reportedly setting fires as he walked along the I-5 freeway.

Witnesses called 911 shortly before 3 p.m. alerting dispatchers of a fire burning on I-5 just south of Ridgefield, Clark County Sheriff’s Office said.

When authorities arrived on the scene they found Samuel U. Morales reportedly setting fires as he walked along the freeway.

Clark County Fire & Rescue crews were able to limit the flames to grass and shrubs. No structures were lost and no injuries were reported.

Morales was detained and later transported to a local hospital for health evaluations.

He is being investigated for second-degree reckless burning. He also has an outstanding misdemeanor warrant out of Woodland, Washington.
