PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Neighbors in Southwest Portland are angry that a Shell gas station has removed trees from the property.

The Shell station at 10120 SW Capitol Highway has had trees removed so the storefront is more visible from the street.

The removal has sparked the anger of residents, many of whom protest Shell’s drilling in the arctic.

Earlier this month, protesters gathered under the St. Johns bridge and some rappelled from it in order to block a Shell icebreaker ship from passing under it to head to the arctic to drill for oil.
