Woman crossing Highway 26 struck, dies

The woman died at the scene around 8:45 p.m. Saturday

SANDY, Ore. (KOIN) — A woman was hit and killed by a driver along Highway 26 Saturday night as she tried to cross the highway outside of a crosswalk.

The Sandy Police Department said the woman died at the scene just east of Ruben Lane around 8:45 p.m. Witnesses told police the eastbound vehicle hit her as she tried to cross. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated.

There’s no indication the driver was impaired at the time, police said.

The woman’s name and age have not been released.
