WILLAMINA, Ore. (KOIN) — Authorities are looking into whether alcohol and marijuana were factors in a Hwy 18 crash that killed one person and injured two others Saturday morning.

Shortly before 8 a.m. a white Chevrolet Malibu with 3 passengers was driving eastbound on Hwy 18 near milepost 28 when the car veered off the road and struck a tree, Oregon State Police said.

The driver, 30-year-old Jose Bermudez Gutierrez from Portland, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Brian Quintana, 22, was reportedly sitting in the right rear passenger seat when the crash occurred. He was taken to OHSU with critical injuries, authorities said.

Juan Bermudez Gutierrez, 21, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are looking into whether alcohol and marijuana were contributing factors in the crash.
