PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A convicted felon was arrested early Sunday morning after dropping a gun during a fight in Old Town, police said.
Shortly before 3 a.m., police in the area of NW 4th Avenue and Couch Street were flagged down on reports of several women fighting, Portland Police Bureau said.
As officers worked to break up the fight, they noticed 2 men fighting in an adjacent parking lot. Onlookers reportedly yelled that one of the men had a gun.
As police approached the men, one of them allegedly dropped a gun and ran from the scene. Gerald Cunningham, 32, was arrested after officers caught up with him several blocks away.
Cunningham was booked into Multnomah County Jail on charges of felony possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, menacing, unlawful use of a weapon, second-degree disorderly conduct, interfering with a peace officer and possession of a loaded firearm.
He was also held on a parole violation for a previous manslaughter conviction.
