Woman dies weeks after July 4 SE Portland hit-run

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 60-year-old woman critically injured in a July 4 hit-and-run died Tuesday, authorities said.

Marlene Popps was hit just before 10 p.m. that night at SE 60th and Holgate. She was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment of “traumatic” injuries.

A witness told police the driver continued west on Holgate. Authorities said the vehicle may be a motorcycle or a 3-wheel motorcycle.

Popps’ son, Mike Neldon, told KOIN 6 News earlier this month he thought she was “was walking to 7-Eleven to get some snacks.”

He wants whoever was the hit-and-run driver to surrender. He also hopes someone who knows who did it to “step forward for them.”

The investigation continues.Crime Stoppers of Oregon is offering a $1000 reward in the case.
