PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Oregon State Department of Forestry issued more restrictions for the Tillamook and Clatsop county forests due to the dry conditions.

Now, smoking is only allowed when inside a vehicle on improved roads. Open fires are also banned in these 2 state forests. There are special sites for safe camp fires.

The state is also ordering people to not go off-roading because, officials fear, the exhaust from vehicles could start dry grass on fire.

To date, there have been 185 human-caused fires on state-protected land, buring 516 acres. Other burn bans are in place in various counties throughout Oregon.
