PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Portland Police on Friday said they will be conducting extra patrols in the areas neighboring houses of worship.

The patrols will be conducted this weekend and for the next several weeks.

They added that no specific threats have been made but they are being proactive in protecting the community in light of the shooting at a Charleston, SC church that left nine people dead on Wednesday.

Police urged anyone with information about threats of violence against the community need to be reported to law enforcement.
