PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Thomas Trinh, a single father of six, has much to be proud of this Father’s Day.

“The best thing about being a dad is the proud moment when your children achieve their goals,” Trinh tells KOIN 6.

Trinh is an Intel businessman, Beaverton citizen and father of four high school class valedictorians. His daughters have graduated from De La Salle North Catholic High School.

“The majority of my life, he was a single parent so throughout those years, I watched him work full time and come back and then at night take care of my five sisters,” his daughter Victoria says.

Victoria says that if anyone knows about hard work and sacrifice, it’s her dad.

“Discipline. It’s all about discipline. You can’t give up,” Victoria says.

Thomas immigrated to the United States in 1982. He moved to Beaverton about 20 years ago and has been working and raising his family since then.

He says it hasn’t always been easy, but the payoff is seeing how successful his daughters are.

“The journey is hard and difficult, but I have the best kids so they listen to me. And we are very close,” Trinh says.

“To see him endure it all and never show how exhausted he was, was really motivating,” Victoria says.

All of Trinh’s four valedictorians are headed into the medical field. His two younger children, a boy and a girl, want to follow in their footsteps.
