Portland, ORE (KOIN) – Oregon is nationally recognized as a track and field goldmine. In hopes of keeping the athletic tradition of track greatness alive, Tracktown USA teamed up with Oregon Sports Authority to launch Tracktown Youth League.
Currently in its second season, Tracktown Youth League is already expanding.
“We took a pretty ambitious leap to go from seven to 12 cities and squeeze it in to six weeks touring the state,” Oregon Sports Authority chief officer Meyer Freeman said. “There’s a lot that goes in to it.”
With the relatively low costs associated with the sport, Tracktown Youth league has made it their goal to introduce families to a sport with a sport that offers benefits for the athlete as well as secures Oregon’s competitive track and field standing.
