ESTACADA, Ore. (KOIN) — Four people were rescued on the Clackamas River after their inflatable devices broke and they were trapped on a log.
The rescue began around 5:45 p.m. Sunday when emergency units were called to the river near marker 22, Clackamas County authorities said in a release. The four — ages 49, 17, 16 and 16 — were trapped between the rapids and a rock wall.
Specialized water rescue equipment was used to get the people from the spot to the lower boat ramp at McIver State Park.
All 4 were taken to the hospital for treatment, and all are expected to recover.
Officials said their showed the events were harrowing and that the people were unprepared for the conditions along that part of the river.
