PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Portland Pride festival is underway with many events celebrating the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans communities.
On Saturday, there are two marches downtown. Both will wind their way between Waterfront Park and the North Park Blocks.
The larger Portland Pride parade is on Sunday. The parade starts at 11:00 a.m. at Burnside St. and N.W. Park Ave. It winds it’s way through Old Town Chinatown and along Naito Pkwy. before ending at Waterfront Park.
This year’s Grand Marshal is Governor Kate Brown. Pride NW, which sponsors the parade and festival, said Brown is the first sitting governor to lead the parade. She is also the first openly LGBTQ governor of any state.
