TACOMA, Wash. (KOIN) – Police in Tacoma, Washington, have identified a missing scuba diver as a Portland, Oregon, woman.

Police say the diver who has been the object of a two-day search is 50-year-old Candace Sneed. Officials said Friday they have suspended search efforts.

Sneed disappeared Wednesday afternoon during a sport scuba dive at a Tacoma pier. The dive was the woman’s first “open water dive” after becoming certified. She reportedly was with a group of other divers from Portland.

The Associated Press contributed to the report.
