A new crosswalk has been installed in Old Town Chinatown

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The city of Portland installed its first ‘creative crosswalk’ Tuesday.

Instead of two parallel lines, this crosswalk at NW 3rd Ave. and NW Davis St. features a giant umbrella with raindrops above.

City officials said the artistic installation is intended to improve safety for walkers in Old Town Chinatown, as well as contribute to the area’s vitality.

The design was created by Jake Kaempf and his company, Ampersand Content.
