TOUTLE, Wash. (KOIN) — A Cowlitz County man is accused of shooting his roommate in the head after he was asked to move out.

Cowlitz County Sheriff Mark Nelson said 67-year-old Donald Donais called 911 Saturday morning to say he had been shot by his roommate, Stanley Bartkowiak, during an argument.  Bartkowiak had been asked to move out and became very upset.

Bartkowiak, 52, allegedly held down Donais and shot him in the head with a .38 caliber handgun.  The bullet grazed Donais’ forehead and at some point during the fight he was shot a second time.  He was able to eventually go outside and call 911.

When deputies arrived, Bartkowiak refused to come out of the house, according to Nelson.  Bartkowiak did eventually surrender and was taken to St. John Hospital for evaluation.

Donais was treated for his gunshot wounds at Legacy Emanuel Hospital and was released.
