CANBY, Ore. (KOIN) — A two-alarm fire destroyed a Canby laundromat after an electrical malfunction sparked the blaze.

By the time crews arrived around 3:20 a.m. at the business off Highway 99E near Birch Street flames had already damaged the roof so badly a second-alarm was made and crews battled it defensively.

“The roof is not very stable at that point so guys can’t be under that roof,” Canby Fire Department Battalion Chief Todd Gary said. “Fight from outside, always makes it harder because we can’t get to it.”

The fire caused up to $300,000 damage to the business.
