PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — A 25-year-old man was shot Sunday evening in an apparent gang-related shooting on E Burnside Street, Portland Police Bureau said.

Officers were called to an apartment complex on the 15900 block of E Burnside Street shortly after 7 p.m., officials said. After arriving on the scene, officers were informed that a gunshot victim was being transported to the hospital in a personal car.

After catching up with the vehicle near Burnside and 143rd Avenue, medical personnel took the 25-year-old man to a Portland area hospital for treatment.

The victim’s injuries are serious but do not appear to be life-threatening, Portland Police Bureau said.

Investigators said a group of two to three African American men approached the victim and spoke to him briefly before shooting him. Based on witness information, officers said the suspects are believed to be gang-affiliated.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Portland Police Bureau at 503.823.4106.
