Unattended backpack briefly closes Chapman Square

Police said the threat was to the federal building

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Chapman Square in downtown Portland was briefly blocked off Thursday afternoon on reports of a bomb scare after an unattended backpack was discovered.

Police said the scare was near the federal building and impacted both vehicle and pedestrian traffic around SW 3rd.The crime scene tape was lifted shortly before 3 p.m.
