PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Around 30,000 pounds of apples were delivered Thursday to the Oregon Food Bank, donated by the Grocery Outlet.

One in five families is in food need throughout the state of Oregon, and fresh produced remains particularly important.

“Fresh produce is extremely important,” said Kerri Higby with the Oregon Food Bank. “We’re moving away from cans to fresh food. We’re looking to increase the amount of produce that we do each year.”

The Oregon Food Bank’s biggest annual fundraiser is the Waterfront Blues Festival. Tickets for the event are now on sale.

The music fest is set for July 2-5 at Waterfront Park in downtown Portland, and  KOIN 6 is the proud television sponsor for the event.

Buddy Guy, Gregg Allman and Macy Gray are among the musical stars locked in for the 28th annual Waterfront Blues Festival.

Others in the lineup include Galactic, Allen Toussaint, Charmaine Neville, Phil and Dave Alvin, The Paladins, Devon Allman and Chubby Carrier.
