KOIN earns 9 Emmy nominations for news

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – KOIN 6 News earned nine Emmy nominations in a variety of categories for work in 2014.

The Northwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences selected these KOIN pieces from among hundreds submitted by TV stations in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Washington and Oregon.

The KOIN Emmy nominees are:

— Investigative reporter Carla Castano and photojournalist Robert Dingwall for stories about marijuana use at a day care
— Carla Castano and Investigative reporter/anchor Dan Tilkin for specialty assignments
— Reporter Kohr Harlan and photojournalist Bill Cortez for Sentimental Journey
— Producer Liz Cohen earned 2 nominations for the 11 p.m. newscasts on the Longview Tornado and a Winter Storm, for which News Director Kate Glover was co-nominated.
— Executive Producer Jerry McCormick and producer Allison MarpleSchlenker were nominated for KOIN 6 News This Morning
— Photojournalist Ty Nguyen and General Manager Adrienne Roark were nominated for Special Programs – Made in Oregon, Stories of the Northwest
— Jamie Holmes, Bart Tourville and Kathryn Mosher-Boule were nominated in the Graphic Arts category

The Emmy Awards will be presented on Saturday, June 6, 2015.
