PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — A three-month investigation led to the arrest of two people and the seizure of nearly 14 pounds of heroin in Southeast Portland.
The arrests were made March 19, officials said, after investigators saw two vehicles meet in Vancouver. Those vehicles went into a closed garage, then left in different directions.
Vancouver and Portland police worked together, and both vehicles were stopped at SE Mill Plain Boulevard and 160th.
Four people were detained but two were arrested: Jose Luis Mariscal Gonzalez, 42, and 19-year-old Jesus Alejandro Vega-Cazarez.
Officials said about $90,000 in cash was taken from one car and 13.8 pounds of heroin was found in the frame rails of the other. The wholesale value of the heroin is $650,000 and is equivalent to about 1.2 million individual doses.
